Our Aims

Our project aims to offer an attractive up to date interdisciplinary on-line collaborative platform with specific learning tools and content, supporting participants in acquisition of skills in the field of orthopedic and rehabilitation.

By our project we intend to:

  • Develop basics skills for medical specialists in orthopedics and rehabilitation (theoretical and practical skills for assessment, decision, treatment in different pathologies) by innovative on-line education and strategic use of ICT-based teaching and assessment practices
  • Develop new skills as requested by the labour market - computerized gait analysis
  • Develop transversal skills (ICT skills, communication and language skills, ability to think critically, take initiative, working collaborative in multidisciplinary teams -orthopedist/rehabilitator, problem solving) by the use of a multilanguage e-platform with case studies that must be solved by the trainees
  • Assure the development of high quality work-based VET
  • Enhance digital integration in medical learning, teaching, training by promoting access to and learning through Open Educational Resources that will support ICT-based teaching and training, as well as ICT-based assessment practices

Our Target Group

Our target group includes organizations and individuals that will be direct users of the project results represented by: medical doctors specialized in orthopedic and rehabilitation, residents, kinesitherapists, physiotherapists, nurses, intensive care professionals.

In terms of organisations:

  • Universities, colleges and other providers of medical education
  • Public and private Health Institutions
  • Professional associations (ENT-PROFS)

Our Activities

Our activities involves:

  • Elaboration of reports and research studies for the current state of art in the field of protocols for orthopedic surgical procedures and rehabilitation after surgery
  • Elaboration of guidelines operational standards in lower limb orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation
  • Development of the e-learning platform
  • Development of trainer s transversal kit – orthopedic and rehabilitation
  • Multiplier events - These events aim to increase the interest of direct and indirect target group about our project. During the project lifetime we have 4 multiplier events in Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey.
  • Short term training activity - 5 days duration in Greece.

Our Team

Our Strategic Partnership involves a diverse range of partners in order to benefit from their different experiences, profiles and specific expertise to produce relevant and high quality project results.

The consortium includes hospitals , higher education institutions, and a research institute, well-known in the field, with consistent experience and strong networks with their target groups. There is a well established international partner balance (medical, educational and technological) from 5 countries including 7 partners, with high qualified specialists in orthopedics, rehabilitation, vocational training, learning applications developers with a long standing reputation for providing student-centred programmes of health education (interdisciplinary team, high degree of interactivity). Issues taking into consideration were: competence and thematic expertise in the field, relevant experience in working in transnational context, specific interest in the development of medical skills for health professionals in the orthopedic and rehabilitation field.

SPITALUL CLINIC DE URGENTA BUCURESTI ( CLINICAL EMERGENCY HOSPITAL BUCHAREST/ SCUB) is the first emergency hospital in Romania ( it was founded in 1934), involved mainly in treating medical and surgical emergencies ,but having an educational and research prodigious activity, as well.

As a teaching hospital, SCUB developed a well trained group of university and research personnel thus becoming a major center for training students, residents and young specialists, able to promote and apply the methods of modern medicine and to apply the tasks of the healthcare reform, according to the EU requests.

The hospital has 731 beds in 16 services, representing the main fields of emergencies, and it provides emergency treatment to people not only from Bucharest, since the most severe cases are brought to SCUB from all over the country.

The Orthopedics and Trauma Clinic has an outstanding experience in trauma management, being traditionally considered as the reference point for orthopedic trauma in our country. Due to this position, not only that the cases are extremely severe and diverse, thus allowing the staff to gain valuable experience, but also the interest to be trained in this clinic is considerable, the increasing number of trainees demonstrating the impact this Clinic has in Romanian Medicine.

University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest was founded in 1857 and it continuous to be a major educational institution in the medical field in Romania.

Its’ staff is represented by highly qualified personnel with a prestigious research and publishing activity, involved in university (students) as well as post-university training ( residents, Ph. D, master) thus delivering the human resource to the healthcare system.

The activity of UMF is focused on excellency in medical training, thus addressing the important issue of modern medicine to improve the outcome of the patients and the quality of life. In respect to this task, UMF continuously improved, during the last years, not only the educational curricula, but also the method of teaching , completing the theoretical courses with practical-oriented courses and modules.

regardless the specific domain, the training programmes of UMF are strongly connected with the EU requests in order to create specialists with an integrated vision upon human medicine. Modern tools of diagnosis and treatment are largely approached, as well as the interdisciplinary system of dealing with pathology, thus allowing the trainees to become familiar with the newest reasearch products and guidelines.

The Clinical Hospital Filantropia of Craiova is one of the high standing medical institution in Craiova and in the Oltenia region, placed in the South – West of Romania.

Currently, the Clinical Hospital Filantropia of Craiova is a comprehensive medical structure, including seven inpatient departments, paraclinic labs and imagistic compartment, and a complex out patient department. In this Hospital almost 30.000 patients are treated annual by qualified doctors, in accordance with psychiatrist competence and professionalism.

The qualified human resource (over 100 superior medical staff members) performe teaching activities for medical students and quality medical services.

One of the most important department in Hospital is Rehabilitation Department, where more than 50 patients are treated every day. All medical staff are qualified in accordance with new ICF classification of disability and try to obtain the independence and adequate quality of life for all patients.

The National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR) is the largest multidisciplinary research center in Greece, with critical mass in expertise and infrastructure in the fields of Nanotechnology, Energy & Environment, Biosciences, Particle and Nuclear Science, Informatics and Telecommunications.

The Center was inaugurated in 1961 as a state-owned entity under the name Nuclear Research Center “Demokritos”. University Hospital Ste Anna Sofia

Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Anna" - Sofia was founded on 01/05/1879. It is one of the first seven hospitals found in Bulgaria after the liberation from Ottoman rule. The hospital is the successor to United Regional Hospital "Dr. Racho Angelov" and the Institute for the treatment of foreign nationals which are united in 2000 under the name University Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Anna" Sofia AD.

The hospital is located in the eastern district of the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia. It has 440 hospital beds. It employs 1054 staff. Of these, 281 are doctors, 19 people have higher non-medical educations - engineers, economists, biochemists, etc., specialist health care (nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, therapists, etc.) 515 people, orderlies and other staff - 258 people.

The hospital performs diagnosis and treatment of diseases of all profiles of medical specialties, treating emergencies and highly specialized research and advice to patients from other hospitals.

The hospital is one of the leading centers in cardiology and cardiac surgery and offers medical diagnostic laboratories and blood center. The stationary block includes clinics and departments of obstetrics and gynecology; all profiles of Internal Medicine (Pulmonology, Cardiology, Nephrology and Dialysis, hematology, endocrinology, gastroenterology); cardiac surgery; Invasive Cardiology; General and Endoscopic Surgery; anesthesiology and resuscitation; Orthopedics and Traumatology; Maxillofacial Surgery and Otolaryngology; urology; ophthalmology; neurology; neurosurgery; pediatrics and infectious diseases.

Mersin University

Mersin University was established with the TBMM’s (Turkey`s National Grand Assembly) law number 3837 dated as 3rd July 1992 and began to function on 10th November 1992. It completed its 20th year in the academic year 2011-2012 and had its first graduates in June 1997.

Mersin University started undergraduate programs for the students in the Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Vocational School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Mersin Vocational School, Gülnar Vocational School, Mut Vocational School, Tarsus Vocational School and for the students of degree programs in the Institute of Social Sciences and in the Institute of Science.

Mersin University Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology has been functioning actively since 1999. It has 6 staff members and 10 residents in training. There are subspecialties groups formed mainly of: Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, Spine, Pediatric Orthopedics, Trauma, Orthopedic Oncology, Hand Surgery. The department serves to the whole interstate area. It is a reference hospital in the region. Annual surgery numbers are approximately 3000 and clinics application numbers are 25.000. All kinds of orthopaedic and trauma surgeries are performed.

The institute has moved to its new hospital building about one year ago. The hospital has 800 bed capacity. There are 16 operation theaters equipped with all necessary technical instruments.

European Training Center Copenhagen was established by the not-for-profit company Horisont -amba who has been working with social capital and inclusion activities for the past 25th years.

European Training Center Copenhagen- ETCC.DK- provides training and consultancy services, “in house” training and training courses in Denmark /Scandinavia and different locations in Europe.

European Training Center Copenhagen has developed seminars, workshops and training courses based on the newest knowledge related to the E.U. Structural and Cohesion Funds and European development programmes.

In this respect ETCC DK draws also on a broad experience on wide range of learners and is very competent in education and training of adults/youngsters and service and production issues focussing on behavioural changes among social actors and organisations.

European Training Center Copenhagen has as well a wide range of experiences and know how from the labour market training, health and social sectors when working in transition countries and has via its board and members a wide network of co-operators representing training institutions, NGOs and state institutions in Denmark especially, also Sweden, Finland/Norden Region and Norway too.
